The 70 LeMans Getting UPGRADES! Jegs GM A Body Front Disc Brake Conversion!
The time has come for the 455 Pontiac powered 1970 Pontiac LeMans to step up and not just do street car duty, but be ready for some race car duty as well! With the 2024 Pontiac Nationals coming up Bob McVay of Street Racing Channel / The Old Man's Garage fame reached out about wanting to have a car to run. Unfortunately our Pontiac 350HO build won't be done in time to get the 1968 LeMans ready, so instead we're switching to Plan B, and that means we need to start with some brake upgrades!
One of the biggest upgrades any classic car can get to improve it's daily drivable characteristics is a brake upgrade, in this case we're getting rid of the old Drum - Drum setup and going 4 wheel disc brake conversion. In order to do this, we grabbed a GM A Body Disc Brake Conversion Kit from our folks at Jegs and get to work! We are holding off on doing the rears just yet, because there's also likely a rear end swap in the future as well!

Переглядів 3,9 тис.7 годин тому
Today we're getting our truck on, a customer of ours brought us a gorgeous example of a 1974 Ford F100 Ranger, as well as an AutoFab 5 inch lift kit for the truck. With the twin I beam front suspension setup we aren't dealing with the best designed suspension geometry in the world but it works, and it extremely tough. This is a reasonably straight forward Lift kit install however we do run into...

There's no denying the appeal in th...
Rear Disc Brake Conversion, The Right Stuff but with COMPLICATIONS!
Переглядів 5 тис.19 годин тому
One of the absolute best ways you can upgrade any classic car or American Muscle Car, is a disc break conversion. Most of these cars from the 60s and 70s came with drum brakes, which for the time were, ok, but for modern driving and hot rod power levels, just don't cut it. Fortunately there are lots of options available through retailers like Jegs or Summit Racing, or directly through the compa...

It's been a couple of years since we did the Ford 8.8 Gear Install on the Street Racing Channel Ford Falcon, well after hundreds of passes it's time to address some wear and tear. While we're in there, we're also going to be making a slight change with the gear ratio, going from a 3.90 to a 4.10 rear gear. As you'll see, it's a good thing we're doing this repair now! There aren't many people ou...
CATASTROPHIE ahead for a Little Blue El Camino!
Переглядів 10 тис.День тому
This one started out as a simple upgrade, we're just removing the front factory sway bar and replacing it with a new larger aftermarket bar, one of the easist and most worthwhile upgrades you can do to a classic car. Unfortunately this little 1965 Chevy El Camino was hiding a dirty and terrible secret, which we soon discover. Unfortunately this is reality when it comes to the classic car market...

We get to work with all kinds of hot rods and race cars for sure and as drag and drive becomes more and more popular we see that definitely becoming a bigger part of our business. When it comes to awesome machines from the early 2000s, there's not much better than a Terminator Cobra, and this one is a very clean nicely modified low mile example of the breed! The 2003 Mustang Cobra / 2004 Mustan...

Once more back in the saddle of the 1991 GMC Syclone to complete the final day of the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour! Today we're leaving from Columbus, where we are based, and headed straight west to Indianapolis! We COULD just take Interstate 70 all the way there, or in true Power Tour fashion we could get off the quickest route and take some old fashioned high ways. For Hot Rod Power Tour 2024 that...
2024 Hot Rod Power Tour Day 4! Long Drive and a Jegs Parts run!

As the famous phrase goes, we got a long way to go, and a short time to get there. Today we are leaving Louisville Kentucky after a great day and night and headed back to Ohio, towards National Trails Raceway! Unfortunately there are a few folks in serious need of repairs so I called ahead to our friends at Jegs 11th Ave store in downtown Columbus to score the parts we needed. Now I've just got...

I'll tell you right now, this episode definitely didn't turn out how I expected! Following the wrap up, and dinner on Day 1 I made the call to push on to Nashville early, which should set me up for a quick easy drive on Day 2. So far the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour was going great, the little black 1991 GMC Syclone is doing well, and everything was trending my way. Unfortunately after a night out o...

It's that time of year again folks, mid June means Hot Rod Power Tour time! For the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour we're letting the 1979 AMC AMX take a breather, it's done the last 3 Long Hauls and we figured that's probably proved a point. This year we're bringing the all original bone stock 1991 GMC Syclone, so we're cruising in comfort! Not only that, but this little black truck has A/C which is g...

As anyone who's been paying attention to this channel for a long time will know, we've enjoyed the heck out of the 1979 AMC Spirit AMX over the past bunch of years, and it's been one heck of a machine through all of it. Multiple Hot Rod Power Tour Long Haul successes, tens of thousands of miles, and even some off road rally racing. Unfortunately even it can get slightly angry and temperamental....

Because it give people something to talk about I like lifted trucks made it look 100% better after you get done with it
It’s not level
I I think u forgot the back
Check the frame it's toasted
Bad one jack 🎉
Love those old A body GMs!!! Especially Pontiac!!!
Nice video. Thank you.
Pull O2 sensors out spray them down with carb cleaner get as clean as possible then run a carbon burn off (sea foam carbon killer) that should clear the code and make it run awesome cos gti vvti vtec and eco tec are bad for carbon build up because of the emissions sensor recirc in the intake or the EGR
I had a k24a8 that kept doing the same thing I run injector cleaner cleaned the O2 with carb cleaning and washed in diesel then cleaned it off again reinstalled then done the sea foam carbon killer and EGR delete (as in australia that is legal) and the car has never run better and hasn’t thrown a code for left bank (O2 code normally) or cat code
I can smell the gear oil. 😅
I went with the global west drag race control arms for my ‘70 lemans sport. And you can use them on the street.
You want to sell any spare 1970 Pontiac sport coupe with the front chrome and real Crome bumpers, this is the year and the style I had for my first car, ,please thanks help find me a rat style 1970 Pontiac sport coupe Lemans,I ar had a post floor shifter,350 th 350, white vinal top, thanks BigAl California.
Hope you get decent pedal feel with that kit. I fitted a kit that used those chinese made calipers on my 65 gto and for the life of me could not get a good pedal. Gravity bleed, pressure bleed, vacuum bleed, bled with the calipers off then pushed the piston back in. Dissasembled calipers and pbr brake greased the seals. Nothing fixed the long pedal and mushy feel. Cracked the poops and purchased a set of 13 inch corvette rotors and second hand pbr calipers and BAM!. simple gravity bleed and pedal is solid!
I stay stocked up at tractor supply. They sell grade 8 by the pound. A few plastic box organizers, and im saving gas and money from going to the hardware store.
Ive made the conversion with the stock drum spindles. Yes you meed to get the larger special bolt. The boss that bolt is on needs machines down with am end mill or flycutter. Chevelle stuff from there . I used 69 vette manual 4 disc master, left the distribution block. 85 regal front calipers for the rear, left on the right, right on the left. Mounted with plate steel on stock pins. TA rotors. Works great.
Loving it!
107 IN TEXAS in my shop it was 120, I locked up and went home I thought I was going to die
❤❤love the patina
Sounds mean
No it doesn't start right up. Get a Quadrajet from Cliff Ruggles in Ohio. He wrote the book on them.
Get some rest Rich. Have a happy 4th
and where is the rest of the build?
One pump and she’s off! Cracks me up when I see people get in carbed cars and pump the hell out of the peddle. You just need one full pump.
For some unknown reason I cannot stand the feel of brake fluid on my hands.
Are those rotors directional? The ones I put on my racecar were.
They are aggressive, or less aggressive!
Pickelfork? We dont need no stinking pickelfork.Ruins the bj grease boots anyway
Those ball joints will be fine untill we replace them with new ones.
I must say Austin you have cool boss to let you put some of your cars in his lot and work on your cars too.
Hey, Austin, you do know that hood that you have for the 68 will fit your 70 ?
why not get the conversion kit from right stuff detailing? support your local vendors, not jegs which is owned by a hedge fund.
Right stuff has nice kits! We just finished a 67 chevelle 4 wheel disc brake set up with their kit. Its good stuff and takes time to set up correctly just like all the other kits. We are not owned by any specific company to sell their parts. The jegs kit made sense for this car, and it was a clean install. Cheers!
@@richardlucore6813 i never said you were obligated to sell anything.how did not helping a local business make sense?
@johndillinger8482 Do you think local people don't work at the jegs warehouse..... or the 11th ave store? I literally just did a Right Stuff disc brake install on a 67 chevelle. They have good bits. But it was complicated getting parts from them as they are no longer "based " out of westerville. For this car the jegs kit was the choice...... we don't get paid by the people supplying the parts. We just install the bits that are necessary to get the job done. If they don't work out. We get better bits. It's really not that complicated.
Brother, people are vacationing from hell right now to get a break from the heat. North Carolina here. It's the humidity that gets you ROFLMFAO!!!!
Good old A-body content...can't go wrong....maybe use steel wheels on the front end..??... Good luck and pack a tool box...thanks..🔧🔧👍
I appreciate watching the nitty gritty of muscle car life. It is not all headers and chrome valve covers!
Hi, Rich. I love is car. Can't wait for some real brakes and a upgraded rear gear!
97 with real feel 107 at 5:21pm in center of Louisiana right now 😂😂
Why would you put a lift of a 2wd truck makes no scents.
Because it looks cool and that's pretty much the only reason anyone lifts classic trucks? ;) Also, because the customer wants us to, and is paying us to
Well said rich
Thank you Rich. Great work and Austin for recap. It was a clean truck for an Ohio truck. Thanks for sharing! 💯👊👍
The backup on 231 was my buddy's truck getting t-boned on a really bad blind corner turning onto 231 from old 31W. Everyone was ok, but his ride was totaled. He piled into our junk, we hauled ass, and we punched our own passes in Louisville with 10 minutes to spare, and got our Long Hauler on Friday. He just picked up a Camaro for a steal and we'll be back on PT next year.
A lift on a 2wd truck wtf
Are you trying to imply that most people who do lift kits on their trucks do it for some purpose other than to look cool? ;)
@@LucoreAuto there are them type of people also 🤦🏼♂️
That’s going to have old school prerunner vibes to it. Very cool!
Yeah when u add displacement and keep the same head. You curve moves way down. Along with that low compression makes it a dog… I’m about to stroke a 383 and got two pairs of 906 heads. Would love to use them. But I want it to turn 6500rpm and make 450 horse.. so.. I guess aftermarket heads
Heads was to small?
Heads had an issue with how they were set up with the springs and keepers. They were binding up and causing the issues which Unfortunately didn't get found by the original engine builder
The Old Man trusts you Rich, that tells us everything we need to know.
WOULD IT BE BETTER JUST TO PUT IN A 9in FORD REAR END INSTEAD OF MESSING WITH THIS ONE ALL THE TIME
Loved it the way it was.
Love that car ! It’s a bad mofo ..❤
If only you had some video of the radius rods before you removed them.... oh... wait.
Were you out of. My 66 ford mustang inline 6 needs a rebuild pretty baddly
Definitely better now !!
There upside down
Yup. My fault. I fixed it. Just little things to figure out and overcome. Cheers!
It sucks not having good directions with some of these kits .. been there myself in the shop .. makes you sit back an scratch your head !
@@dougwelch4137 I'll snap a pick of the directions with this kit on the next installment. They give the basics. It's a good kit and we are very happy with it. After we get the back side leveled up it will really start to look good
Yup 2wd or not they look cool lifted !
Always enjoy the videos. Me personally, I don’t understand lifting a 2 wheel drive truck but to each their own, I think it would be a really cool 4 wheel drive swap. Love the body style of that truck, it will look cool, just not 4WD.
The infamous AMC, aka Rambler dog leg ports. Headers, oh my goodness. I've owned my 76 CJ-5 well, forever. Hate hate hate Headers. Do not throw away your stock manifolds, you need to read why dog leg ports, these engines came stroked from the factory. Seriously, wonder why NASCAR hated Rambler. So much the Banned Rambler because they beat All the completion. High nickel blocks , they never wear out. Read up on your AMC see how the built stuff to last.
Everything about these engines, FLOW. If the engineers at Rambler or AMC THOUGHT headers would benefit the engine they'd would have came stock on the engine.
